Basis of the edition

Commentary

Previous editions: Hazenbos 2003: 44-45.

This fragment is among the cult inventories which explicitly mention king Tudḫaliya (IV). Most interesting is the reference to the “years of Ḫantili,” which, if the reading is correct, reminds of a well-know passage from the so-called Apology of Ḫattušili III, where he credits himself with the reconquering of Nerik (see Cammarosano 2018: 333-34 with literature).

A peculiar feature of this fragment is the slope of the wedge heads (Cammarosano 2015: 154), a feature which is unusual in the corpus of the cult inventories and instead is normal in literary and other “library” tablets. Content and style fit with the classification as cult inventory, but it cannot be ruled out that the fragment belongs to another genre.
